About the Athlete – Mohit Kumar
Mohit Kumar, a 21-year-old golfer associated with Special Olympics Bharat, comes from a humble background in a small village in Hisar, Haryana. Born prematurely, Mohit faced early developmental challenges and did not speak for many years.
His father works as a daily wage labourer and his mother is a homemaker. Due to his intellectual disability and speech delay, Mohit struggled to find admission in schools during his early years. Eventually, he was admitted to Asha School Hisar, where his journey in sports truly began.
Mohit initially participated in cycling and table tennis before discovering his passion for golf five years ago. When he first competed in the Special Olympics Bharat Haryana State Championship, he did not have proper golf equipment.
Recognizing his potential, DLF Golf and Country Club supported him with golf equipment, enabling him to begin regular training at the Army Cantonment Hisar.
